here is the definition of appetizer a small dish of food or drink taken before a meal or the main course of a meal to stimulate one's appetite I like to think if she piece of a book with you as a book appetizer a little taste of what is coming so that you can decide if maybe you would like to read the whole book so I share pieces of books with you and you can listen and see if you're interested and if you are take note of the title maybe you can check this book out from the Dapple Gray Library this book appetizer is from A Series of Unfortunate Events book the first by lemony The Bad Beginning chapter one if you are interested in stories with happy endings you would be better off reading some other book in this book not only is there no happy ending there is no happy beginning and very few happy things in the middle this is because not very many happy things happened in the lives of the three baudelaire youngsters Violet Klaus and sunny baudelaire intelligent children and they were charming and resourceful and had Pleasant facial features but they were extremely unlucky and most everything that happened to them was Rife with Misfortune misery and despair I'm sorry to tell you this but that is how the story goes their Misfortune began one day Briny Beach the three baudelaire children live with their parents in an enormous Mansion at the heart of a dirty busy City and occasionally their parents gave them permission to take the word rickety you probably know here mean unsteady or likely to collapse alone to the seashore where they would spin today is the sort of vacation as long as they were home for dinner this particular morning it was gray and cloudy which didn't bother the beach was crowded with tourists find a good place to lay one's blank on cloudy days most 14 year olds she was right handed The Rock's get farther across the murky water that use her right hand then when she left she was she wanted to build anyone tell she was thinking hard because her long hair was tied up in a ribbon to keep it out of her eyes pilot had a real knack for inventing and building strength devices so her brain was awesome still with images of police and she never wanted to be distracted by something as trivial as her hair this morning she was thinking about how to construct a device that could retrieve a row after you had skipped it into the ocean Klaus baudelaire the middle child and the only boys like to examine creatures in tide pools clouds with a little older than 12 and wore glasses which made him look intelligent he was intelligent enormous library in a room filled with thousands of books on nearly every subject being only 12 class of course had not read all of the books in the library but he have read a great many of them and has retained a lot of information from his reading he knew how to tell an alligator from a crocodile you knew who killed Julius Caesar and he knew much about the tiny slimy animals found examining now Sunny baudelaire she was an infant and very small for her age scarcely larger than a boot what she's acting size however she made up with the size sharpness of her 40 Sunny was at an age where one mostly speaks in a series of unintelligible Street except when she use the few actual words in her vocabulary likes bottle mommy and most people had trouble understanding what it was that Sonny was saying for instance this morning she was saying over and over which probably look at that mysterious emerging from the fog in the distance along the Misty Shore Briny Beach there could be seen a tall figure striding for the baudelaire children Sunny had already been staring in the figure for sometime when Klaus looked up from this crab he was examining and saw it to he reached over and touched Violet arm bringing her out of her inventing spots and that wraps up this book appetizer be interested in Reading A Series of Unfortunate Events The Bad Beginning be sure to go to the doppelganger website and visit the library page and make your request for the next Library pickup date we have library book pick up coming up on November 18th so be sure to submit your request form for this or any other book and we will see you then
