August  2017

Dear Second Grade Parents,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome your child to the second grade.  I hope you are all having a fun and relaxing summer and are just as excited to start this school year as I am.  The second grade team of teachers is looking forward to working with you to make this year a very special one.

The 2016-2017 school year will be filled with the joy of learning and the fun of discovery with our Common Core State Standards.  The first two weeks will be a time of getting to know each other, setting a schedule, and learning classroom and school routines.  We will also spend a short time reviewing what your child has learned in the first grade.

ON THE 1st DAY OF SCHOOL please have your child prepared by bringing 3 plastic pocket folders without prongs (one red, one blue, and one green) and a supply box  (8.25”x 5.63” x 2.13”)  containing the following items

12 pack Crayola fine line washable markers            1 highlighter

1 pencil sharpener with receptacle                          12 ct. Crayola colored pencils

4 black Sharpies (2 fine/2ultra fine)

Additional supplies to be collected the first week and stored for future use:

1 dry erase marker                                                  Earbuds or headphones to use with
1 dry eraser                                                              classroom iPads

2 marble composition book s100 ct.                  1 box of tissues

1” white view 3 ring vinyl binder

In addition, please print and complete the 2 page  student  information sheet below.  It would be ideal to turn it in sometime during the first week of school.  This  will help me begin to get to know your child. J

I hope you enjoy the last days of summer break and I’ll look forward to seeing you on the 28th.
