Hello Dapplegray families as promised I'm putting together a quick tutorial of what it should look like on your first day of school so this will help a little bit understand the importance of the procedures that we have set in place so we're going to see a car drive in we'll see a car pull up to the yellow curb show us their covid screening okay sign and even I'll walk you up the ramp and show you where the kids are going to sit all right so I'll give you all of that in this quick tutorial so let's start with driving into the lot so as you see as the camera turns around we'll be watching a car turn into the lot so let's watch that I will talk us through if you noticed the car driving in from Palos Verdes Drive you're going to follow that lane around and you're going to make your way through the lot and then follow back towards the yellow curb and she'll show us how to do that as well so if you notice you'll be driving probably slower than that there will be a lot of cars along the yellow curb and watch where she stops she'll go all the way down where the entrance of the Kinder ramp is this is where you will stop to get assistance and show us your covid screening Here at curbside you'll be met by a staff member myself yard supervisors maybe even the teachers and this is where you're going to present your card not only do you show us a child's name and what classroom the are in but on the back there it is our green okay sign that needs to be shown every single day before your child gets out of the car that means that you have read through your covid screening questions and you've answered No to all of those questions if there is a yes on one of those questions you will not be getting out of the car and I want you to proceed home maybe not even leave your home in the first place that might be easiest and you'll call in and let us know that you'll be absent that day okay so here you'll show your okay screen and at that point we will open up the door we can assist that much your child will have to get out of the car independently hop out we'll say good morning we'll shut your door and then your job is done you will drive off again in the lane you came in and you will also remember at pickup time the same thing you'll drive in you'll come around to that yellow curb and you will see your child in fact we'll look at one of the markers right here Kathleen if you can show them the markers there are yellow markers set up along the sidewalk which will be the spot six feet apart where kids will be at the dismissal time so you'll come into the school same routine yellow curb but when you see your child on these markers we''ll want you to stop just line up with your child we'll be there to help you load quickly and safely okay usually we want everyone to pull forward so we can get the kids in that way it's going to be just a little bit different for the first two weeks when we're back before we come back in January for those two weeks just stop right where your child is you'll see them lined up it'll be a lot faster to load and then we get to remain six feet apart with our masks okay let's head up to the ramp after your child has unloaded safely they'll be walking up the ramp with our yellow line indicators so up the ramp they go they'll be entering thorugh our Kinder gate this is where they will enter and they will exit enter and exit so our dismissal for Kinder and TK will be here all year we'll make this your place you'll enter this way and you'll exit this way okay okay entering the campus once we're through the gate then the child is going to walk up and we'll be here to help there will be adults helping they'll walk through and identify their area with a color so for example Mrs Smith's class will be identified with orange markers and all of the benches have been sprayed with colored spots so the child will learn to come sit at one of the spots again there's social distance and color coordinated the next color is green that's Mrs. Oschman the next color is red the red tables Mrs. oh that might be Mrs. Oschman I apologize green as Mrs. Conaway and then on the other side I'll show you where our TK students will go and they will be yellow their indicators are yellow these benches are all set up with the social distancing and colors so the cohorts will stay together on their color and help us with not only social distancing part of it but our cohort staying together and easy cleaning in between snack recess those kinds of things ok all right so if they're done using or accessing the snack tables or outside classroom stations we'll use them for both they will be able to access their classrooms all the classrooms have their sinks they'll be washing hands sanitizing etc also wanted to show you real quickly the children will be walking a short distance to the restrooms where we have a boy restroom and a girl restroom we have purchased magnets that will have their names on them so when they're in the restroom they will actually put the magnet on the door and if there are two magnets on the door that will indicate that they will have to wait outside for someone to leave so we have a little system for the restroom so there's just two in a restroom at a time that'll be very helpful we have lots of signs around campus so the children know where to go reminding them to keep social distance keep their masks on be practicing that with them washing hands and then just a short way just down the hallway the camera will go that direction you'll see a bench and that bench is for the students that might need access to the health office either they're not feeling well or maybe they fell down and scratch their knee sometimes they just need a little TLC so they will actually go right down to the outdoor bench and sit and wait for the office staff to come out and meet with them and assess the situation we'll also have a room if they're not feeling well that is adjacent to the health office in court 1 for if they aren't feeling well and we'll call you they'll be in that room if we feel like it's a covid symptom or could be possibly a covid symptom they'll be in court 1 waiting for you to come pick them up okay so everything sort of functions just right around here which is nice it's easy to clean it's all easy to learn also right up that ramp you can see some stairs and those stairs lead to the playground so before I leave you today just a couple things to remember they will have recess breaks for the first two weeks they're back so that's lovely because they're the only ones that will be on campus besides Kids Corner what might change and I'll need your help in your flexibility and understanding is when we bring back our 1st and 2nd graders we have a target date for January 11th on that target date of January 11th we might be adjusting some of the things I just spoke to you about we will always use the gate for pickup and drop-off but our times might adjust just a little we won't necessarily have playground recess breaks we're going to have to do breaks a little differently so there'll be a little adjustment from what we're planning for the first two weeks of your return okay I'll keep you all informed I appreciate you listening to this long tutorial it'll reassure me and the staff and hopefully reassure you that's we're ready to come back and we're excited to see those kids all right as always I like to end with Colt's Care!
